I’m Jenna and I cannot thank you enough for stopping by to learn more about me! I started Mousse in 2019 when I was called to take a leave of absence from my full-time teaching position to spread my passion for process art to my community.
I am a mother to two girls, Whitley (8) and Maevyn (5) and fire wifey to my amazing husband Roger. I discovered art when I was a first year teacher more than 10 years ago, and realized the importance of the artistic process to my own health and wellbeing as I was looking to achieve greater balance in my life.
Later, while home with my first daughter I discovered the importance of the arts on so many aspects of child development and vowed to make artistic explorations a staple of my daughter’s life and development.
As a teacher, I saw the curriculum through the lens of art, and in the last few years of my practice I switched to a process-based approach. When I taught with greater emphasis on the process, and using art as a form of play, my classroom was full of kids that loved ‘playing’ at the art table. There were never any behaviour challenges at the art table, and I reached every.single.student when I simply put out the materials and took away any expectation for what they should create.
I began Mousse when I realized that I wanted to champion the benefits of a process-based approach to art instruction. I hope you will allow me to help you make sweet memories in art with your own littlest loves.
